Ring ring

December 15th, 2009 at 05:46 am

This morning I switched to a new package from my phone company. By combing my phone and ISP in the same deal I get twice as much Broadband, with no overage charges, and cheap calling rates to NZ and Australia any time of the day or night. Plus I'll be saving nz$1.30 a month. I decided to get rid of the call waiting feature too as I never use it - I think it's rude to ask someone to hang on while you talk to someone else - so that is another .50 cents a month saved. Yippee, 22.60 a year.

We have call waiting as part of our package deal, and I just pretend it's not there. I find it rude too, so I just ignore the signal when it comes thru....unless I've already been on the phone forever with someone really chatty and I can't figure out any other way to end it. Smile But, even then, I'll just say I think I have another call coming in. If they don't finish up & hang up, I still don't put them on hold to go answer the other one.

I agree, call waiting is SO rude. I hate it when someone does that to me.

Not IF/WHEN it's an actual emergency. Many moons ago, I was driving my youngest sister somewhere and I got a flat. (this was pre-cell phones) We had to hoof it to the nearest open establishment. (I know it was the dead of winter and cold!) I tried calling home for over an hour but someone was on the phone. (pre-call waiting days too) Call waiting sure would have come in handy then.
