More power to your elbow

July 4th, 2010 at 11:44 pm

There was a line crew working down the street today. One guy was up in a box trimming overhanging branches away from the lines. Three others leaned on shovels, apparantly waiting to bury him if he got electrocuted. No wonder my power bill is so high.

yep! Its like that here too. We were only talking about the other day too, though i think it was about Main Roads. They were doing night works, with a hundred flashing lights and not a whole lot going on. DF's dad joked as we drove past a group of workers 'one to read the plans, one to check the other has read the plans, and one to supervise the other two' Big Grin

OMG, LOL! You gave me a good laugh. Don't you know here in California Cal Trans always has a few guys hanging around, not sure what they are doing. It's like 1 guy is on a piece of heavy equipment and 5 guys are standing around. That's why California is bankrupt.

During the depression the WPA was started to give jobs to folks during high unemployment...some said it stood for "We Piddle Around". Sounds like these folks have THAT mind set!

I once took a government service job where all the supervisor seemed to do was yak, yak, yak at the rest of us in a social way, making it it hard to get our work done. Oh well, and she also blabbered on and on with her opinions on race relations. Good grief. Then, for every hour of real work we did, we had about an hour of documentation to do. I quit the job at the end of the week. I just couldn't be part of the waste. The office did great work--just not very much of it.

He,He. Big Grin I'll be thinking of that next time I see workers leaning on their shovels.
