Plans

December 20th, 2014 at 05:41 am

I didn't go out today, so a no spend day - just as well, I have only $7.40 in my wallet. I listened to Indian music and sorted out cupboards. I found my old recorder and some music, so spent a while tootling. Next year I am going to be making my own music instead of buying CDs. I also found a textbook on New Testament Greek which i started to study years ago. I'll spend time with that as well and read the Bible in the original.

I've no idea how long you've lived in your current home but moving is one of life's huge stressors. I hope you've made a plan and have a criteria for the items that will move and the stuff that is to be sold, re-gifted, donated or trashed. When we sold the house and moved to a townhouse style condominium, I went through each room and left a bit of masking tape on every item that would be relinquished. My plan was to reduce by half so that only items used, needed, loved and fit dimensions would be retained. It was hard to purge and I coped with those feelings by taking photos of stuff that evoked important memories.

Following the move, there just was too much stuff for the space available. I was determined to have everything needed, where it was needed, when it was needed without a lot of clutter. Everything needed to have a 'home' and be easy to put away as it had always been in the house. It took a year to work that out and I sold, donated and trashed a lot more mainly seasonal /holidaystuff. I wondered why I worked so hard to pack and pay for all that stuff to be moved. It's been a few years and I've not missed the stuff that went, technology overtook books and paperwork.
